Absolute and Almost Beginners comedy course
I went on the Absolute and Almost Beginners Comedy Course that is a product of Hils Jago Comedy empire (i.e. Amused Moose). And it was ‘Slick as Fuck’, the credit goes down to Logan Murrey an Established Stand up comedy around London.
This is what the course provides you with:
1. A little bit of insight into the Comedy circuit (nothing that you could get from a talking to a couple of comedians.)
2. A few material writing tricks.
3. A kick up the arse to do something each week. (homework is included)
4. A showcase that is fairly unavoidable.
5. An opportunity to hang out and make friends with comedian who are in the same situation as you. This is very useful having a small group of friends who support each other can make the first few steps into the open mic circuit.
The good thing about the course is how non-destructive it is. Comedy (in my opinion) cannot really be taught all that can be done is people can be given permission to experiment with stuff themselves. If you go on a comedy course that tells you the 10 basic joke structures and exactly how to act on stage; it is only at it best going to churn out a factory line of uninspired boring comedians. At worst they can destroy any spark of originality that you once had.
What this course does is use an assortment of improvisation games to free you up and allow you find your own persona.
